Austin RV Inspection Case Study: Airstream Buyer Moves Forward
A buyer considering an Airstream International Signature 25FB in Austin, Texas, hired Cozy Camper Mobile RV Services to evaluate its condition before purchase. The inspection identified cooling concerns, deteriorating exterior sealant, separating window gaskets, and an aging spare tire.
Those findings gave the customer specific issues to address with the seller. Repairs were completed, the customer purchased the Airstream, and they later left a review of their experience.
This case study shows how an independent pre-purchase RV inspection helped the buyer move forward with better information about the trailer and its repair needs.

The Buyer’s Goal: Understand the Airstream’s Condition Before Committing
The buyer needed to understand the condition of this particular Airstream before completing the purchase. Our inspection evaluated accessible exterior components, interior finishes, appliances, electrical systems, plumbing, and other equipment.
The report documented both acceptable performance and concerns requiring attention. It also identified an inspection limitation: the parking location prevented the main awning from being fully extended.
For this buyer, our Austin RV inspection service provided a written, photographed record to use during discussions with the seller.
What the Airstream Inspection Found
Freezer Cooling and Refrigerator Coil Concerns
The freezer was warmer than expected during testing, despite the refrigerator having been recorded as operating for at least 12 hours. The refrigerator compartment received an acceptable rating, showing why checking each compartment mattered.
We also found yellow discoloration on the refrigerator’s exterior cooling coils. The report noted that this could indicate an ammonia leak or could be environmental contamination, and recommended evaluation by a qualified technician.
Cooling-coil discoloration and a warmer-than-expected freezer prompted a recommendation for professional evaluation.
Deteriorating Roof Sealant and Separating Window Gaskets
The inspection identified deteriorating lap sealant around roof antenna locations, along with exterior sealant concerns near the front cargo area and on the curbside.
The front window gaskets were also separating from the trim.
These findings gave the buyer specific locations to have evaluated and corrected. Although the Airstream’s exterior is aluminum, its windows, roof openings, and exterior joints still depend on effective seals to help keep water out.

Interior Discoloration and Flooring Damage
Inside the trailer, we documented discoloration beneath an upper window, in a window track, under the kitchen sink, and beneath the dinette. The flooring under the dinette was also torn.
Additional interior findings included separated trim, a missing cabinet rivet, cabinet scratches or discoloration, and a dent in the dinette table.

An Older Spare Tire and Other Repair Items
The spare tire was substantially older than the four installed road tires. Its age was flagged for evaluation by a qualified tire professional, even though the installed tires received acceptable ratings.
Other documented items included a clogged shower faucet, a missing rear antenna mast, and a dented battery box. These findings helped round out the customer’s repair and maintenance list.
What Performed Acceptably During Testing
Both air conditioners produced measured temperature drops of approximately 21 degrees and received acceptable ratings. The furnace, water heater, and several other tested systems also performed acceptably during the inspection.
The main awning still needed a full operational check because there was insufficient space to extend it. That limitation was clearly recorded, with a recommendation to complete the check before delivery.
The customer could see which systems performed as expected, which items needed
attention, and what remained unverified.
The Outcome: Repairs Completed and the Airstream Purchased
The customer purchased the Airstream after repairs were completed. They also left a review of their experience with Cozy Camper Mobile RV Services.
The inspection gave them a documented basis for repair discussions before the sale. Cooling concerns, seal deterioration, and other findings became specific items to address as part of the buying process.
