Texas RV Inspection Report: Alliance vs Jayco

If you are shopping for an RV in Texas, one of the smartest things you can do is schedule a Texas RV inspection before you buy. Recently I worked with clients who were deciding between two fifth wheels. One was a brand new Jayco Eagle 29RLC and the other was a lightly used 2025 Alliance Avenue 332RL.

Instead of guessing which RV was the better purchase, these buyers decided to order a professional Texas RV inspection on both units before making their final decision. This approach allows buyers to compare the real condition of each RV and understand what repairs or maintenance may be needed before taking ownership.

My name is Michael Murphy and I am a certified RV inspector and technician with Cozy Camper Mobile RV Services. What we do is perform independent Texas RV inspections so buyers can understand the true condition of an RV before they sign the paperwork. Over the years we have helped hundreds of RV buyers avoid expensive mistakes and negotiate repairs before leaving the dealership lot.

Why a Texas RV Inspection Matters

Every week I inspect RVs that look great on the outside but have significant problems hiding underneath. The RV industry moves quickly and quality control is not always what buyers expect. A professional Texas RV inspection helps identify issues that most buyers would never notice during a simple walk through.

Common problems discovered during a Texas RV inspection include roof sealant gaps that can eventually lead to water intrusion, slideout seal failures that allow leaks into the coach, electrical safety concerns such as missing GFCI protection, and damage that occurred while the RV was sitting on a dealership lot.

One of those problems actually appeared during this inspection.

Jayco Eagle Texas RV Inspection Findings

The first RV we inspected was the brand new Jayco Eagle 29RLC. This is a rear living fifth wheel with two slideouts, an electric leveling system, and a single awning. At first glance it appeared to be in good condition, but the inspection quickly revealed something unusual.

The leveling system control board was missing.

A technician had removed the perfectly good control board and installed it into another RV on the lot. Unfortunately this kind of parts swapping happens more often than buyers realize. It is one of the reasons a Texas RV inspection includes detailed photo documentation. Occasionally I have to prove that an RV was intact during the inspection because parts disappear before the buyer takes delivery.

Without the control board the leveling system could not be tested. That alone would have been a major frustration for the buyer if it had not been discovered before the sale.

Other issues identified during the Jayco Eagle Texas RV inspection included cargo doors that would not close properly and an entry door that required excessive force to latch. Several areas of roof sealant had also opened slightly. These gaps were small but over time they can allow water intrusion which can lead to major structural damage.

Inside the coach we discovered that the washer and dryer prep outlet was not GFCI protected. In areas where water may be present, electrical protection is critical for safety. Installing a GFCI outlet or breaker is a simple fix but it is something that should have been correct from the factory.

We also found a minor shower corner leak. Like roof sealant issues, small plumbing leaks can grow into much larger problems if they are ignored long enough.

The good news for the buyer was that this RV was brand new and still covered under the manufacturer warranty. All of these items could be addressed by the dealership before delivery.

Alliance Avenue Texas RV Inspection Findings

Next we inspected the 2025 Alliance Avenue 332RL. This RV is slightly larger than the Jayco and features three slideouts and two awnings. It had only been owned briefly before being traded back in.

The first thing that stood out during this Texas RV inspection was the amount of sand inside the RV. There was sand inside cabinets, underneath storage areas, and even inside the electrical compartment.

For Texans this is not entirely surprising. Many RV owners enjoy camping directly on Gulf Coast beaches where RVs can be parked right on the sand. While beach camping is fun, the combination of sand and salt air can accelerate wear and corrosion on RV components.

The roof inspection showed that someone had attempted to seal a few areas but missed several other gaps. These areas would need to be addressed to prevent future leaks.

We also discovered a damaged slideout bulb seal above one of the slides. These seals are designed to compress when the slide retracts and prevent water from entering the coach. A hole in the seal means water can find its way inside, which can eventually damage the structure around the slide.

Inside the coach there were noticeable scratches and wear on cabinetry that suggested the previous owner had used the RV fairly heavily during their short period of ownership. Two of the three slides also raised concerns. The kitchen slide made a loud noise when retracting and the bedroom slide had a large gouge in the floor where something had been caught in the mechanism.

Because this RV was used, it was also important to note that the manufacturer warranty was not transferable to the next owner.

How the Inspection Helped the Buyer Decide

After completing both Texas RV inspections, I provided the reports to the clients and we spent time reviewing them together. The Alliance had a floor plan the buyers really liked and the price was lower since it was used. However the inspection revealed several issues that would require repairs.

The Jayco Eagle, while not perfect, had problems that could be corrected under warranty by the dealership.

Ultimately the buyers chose the Jayco Eagle. The dealership corrected every issue identified in the inspection report and within about a week the buyers were able to take delivery of their RV and begin their winter travels in Texas with confidence.

That is exactly the purpose of a Texas RV inspection. It gives buyers the information they need to make a smart decision before spending a large amount of money.

A Quick Apology to the Internet

You may have noticed that the phrase Texas RV inspection appears quite a few times in this article. That is intentional. Search engines apparently need a lot of reminders about what a page is about before they show it to people searching for help. So if the phrase Texas RV inspection pops up more often than normal conversation, that is simply the internet demanding its tribute.
